We had two days left in Dubrovnik before we were to leave for Venice, Italy. It was easy and cheap to do a day tour to Montenegro for the three of us. You can purchase this tour from Viator – just click on the link! We were picked up at our hotel bright and (way too) early. The tour bus made rounds until it was full of excited tourists. Our guide was wonderful, and she was very knowledgeable.
We drove through Župa Dubrovacka Valley and Konavle region, it was breathtaking. Our first stop was to see 17th-century Baroque-style churched perched on Lady of the Rocks Island.
A bit of drive later, we arrived in Kotor. We spent about an hour in this lovely town.
Sometime later, we arrived in Budva. I wasn’t really impressed with Budva, granted we only stayed within the old city area. There was nothing to do but explore the castle. After walking around for 45minutes or so, we sat down at a cafe by the beach and had some jolly-old iced tea.
We took the ferry from Kotor to another side of the island to avoid the long drive.
We couldn’t do part of the tour due to bad weather up on the mountains, but it gave us extra time to explore these towns. I later realized that I could have easily rented a car and explored Montenegro on our own. Overall, we had a great time on the tour and met wonderful people. We stayed in Dubrovnik that night. We parted for Venice the following day…
